I realised at the end of my little blogging crisis last week (well, as close to a crisis as I ever hope to come over blogging, anyway) that actually, there is one theme that runs through every single aspect of my life, blogged or otherwise.
Lists.
I write lists for everything. Sewing, baking, which order to clean the rooms of the house in (frankly, that's a list that rarely makes it to longer than two items), errands, life planning, favourite colour schemes. I really do write a lot of lists.
And so, I give you.. List of the Week. I've called it that, but I'm not going to bust a gut to stick to posting one list every single week (even though I could probably post something in the region of 47 lists every single week if I wanted to show you each and every one I produce). I'll give it a shot though.
Today's list has been coming together over the past three weeks or so. Preceding it in my notebook are about several background lists; lists of my capsule wardrobe requirements; events we have coming up in the next few months (including a friend's wedding, our mini-honeymoon almost a year after getting married, and endless child-related social engagements); garments I want and garments I really need. And it all boils down to this list.
And here, in a form you can actually read (just because I make a lot of lists doesn't mean that my handwriting is remotely legible):
- Dress for Sue's wedding - V7642 (with changes to the skirt)
- Another waistcoat - Simplicity 2556 again
- A smartish daytime party dress - V1287
- Trench coat - an amalgamation of about four coat patterns I have, including the beautiful Colette Lady Grey pattern, and a couple of vintage ones (the final coat will look nothing like the Lady Grey, but I'm hoping to use it as a base shape, as I love the cut of Sarai's patterns)
- A second evening party dress - V1174
- Long sleeved wrap top - V8790 (with some alterations)
- Blazer - possibly the jacket from McCalls 6519? I'm still on the hunt for the perfect jacket pattern really
- Summer dress - V3835
Oh, and the other conclusion I came to after my little moment of blog-directionlessness (yup, that's a word. honest) is that it's ok to post phone pictures that were snapped with approximately 0.5 seconds composition, rather than carefully posed I'm-not-taking-a-picture-if-the-light's-not-right photos. My phone is the one thing that I have on me all the time, and there are so many things I haven't posted because I know I haven't taken the proper camera with me to capture the moment and I don't want to post a blurry iPhone picture. Since this is never going to be a place where people come to admire beautiful photographs, the odd bit of phone photography will be more than adequate, I think. Besides, it adds interest, right? Right?
