Seriously, I thought it would be a quick, fun project. I thought, "hey, it will get mucky and wear out really quickly, but it will be nice for a while, and it will take next to no time to make."
Have you ever tried stitching plastic? Even plastic with holes in. You get a sore hand, your needle fingers cramp up, and it goes sooooooo slowly.
Seriously, I'm not sure I ever want to pick up my phone without washing my hands first in case I get this thing mucky. It took hours. And hours. And some more hours. And then I put it away for a week. And then got it out again and spent some more hours on it. And finally it was done.
Oh, and the plastic has to be handled so much to do the stitching that, naturally, it actually doesn't fit my phone that well either.
OK, it looks quite nice. For at least the next 15 minutes, until one of my children inevitably gets it filthy. This is unavoidable, given the natural habitat of my children.
So please. Learn from my mistakes. Just buy one of these if you want to be post-ironically kitsch.
