Please ignore the train track and marble run. There is no spare floor space in the family room at the moment, and I am too enormously pregnant to be hauling myself round the house to find well lit flat empty areas of space to photograph on.
I am pleased pleased pleased to have this quilt top finished. Not just because, you know, I'm having a baby soon, but because my goodness did I get bored of producing those blocks after the first dozen or so. I have concluded that the only repetitious block quilts I can cope with are EPP ones. Machine sewing the same block time and time again makes me want to toss the machine and the blocks out of the window. In my head this quilt was going to be more like 45"x30", but frankly I'm pleased it's made it to 30"x35"! The baby can grow into Jasper's old baby quilt after a few months anyway, which is a rather more robust 43"x50".
I've started on the backing, and have the fabric picked for the binding (which is practically the same as having made it, right?), so it looks like there's some chance this quilt might beat the baby (unlike poor Jasper's, which was completed about five months after he was born).
I still have one thing left on my baby handmakes list, but I'm also sorely tempted to make some progress on my Amitie Bring Me Flowers quilt - which has lain sorely neglected since, ooh, the second month - before the baby appears. I mean, it's not like newborns appreciate toys anyway, is it?
